Project Overview

Sazon Villa Taqueria approached me with a challenge: their brand identity had remained unchanged for years, while the culinary landscape and the expectations of modern diners had evolved significantly. Despite offering delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine, their visual identity no longer reflected the quality of their food or connected with a new generation of customers.

The business needed a comprehensive rebrand that would honor its cultural roots while positioning it for growth in a highly competitive food scene. The goal was to create a vibrant, contemporary identity system that would resonate with both loyal regulars and new guests seeking an elevated, flavorful dining experience.

The Challenge

  • Modernize the brand while honoring its authentic Mexican roots and culinary heritage
  • Create a flexible visual identity system that works across the food truck, social media, and promotional materials
  • Design bold, eye-catching visuals that capture attention in the fast-paced, visually competitive streets of New York City
  • Ensure consistency between the truck’s physical design and its digital presence, including menus, website, and social platforms
  • Position the brand to connect with NYC’s younger, trend-conscious food scene without alienating longtime loyal customers

Project Objectives

  1. Develop a refreshed brand identity that reflects the quality, warmth, and authenticity of Sazon Villa Taqueria’s Mexican cuisine
  2. Increase brand visibility and customer engagement across high-traffic areas of New York City
  3. Design a distinctive truck wrap and signage system that stands out in a competitive urban food scene

Client Background

Juan, born in Mexico City and raised in Puebla, moved to the USA at sixteen. Starting as a dishwasher, he worked his way up in the restaurant industry and gained experience with top NYC caterers before launching his own food truck to share authentic Mexican flavors.
